The Form of the Symposium and Free Discussions

Like many of you, a number of us at KHiO have developed a sense of dissatisfaction with the nature of conferences and symposiums. Our experience has been that though many talks given at these events are useful and interesting to us as professionals, there is never enough time in the formal sessions to raise questions, discuss pertinent issues or debate them in any depth. The really interesting discussions seem to take place in coffee or lunch breaks, only to be cut short by a return to the programme of events.

We wish to provide ample opportunity for this form of discussion and have therefore created a semi-structured session between 14.30 to 16.00 were you will be able to meet others delegates, discover what issues they are interested in discussing or the particular problems they face and use this opportunity to develop a dialogue.

This session will be facilitated by Theodor Barth, Maziar Raein and John Wood who will then collect information and issues noted by the delegates and reflect them back to the symposium in the Plenary session.

We hope you take particular pleasure in this session.
